How can I change my database from MySQL 4 to MySQL 5?We recommend that you take the following steps to create a new database in MySQL 5 using the data from your MySQL 4 database. Please Note; This is only available for shared Linux-based hosting. 1. Export your data from your existing MySQL 4 database. If you have an extra database in your package, it is best to set up the new database successfully, before deleting your current database. Otherwise, please make a backup of your data before starting. 2. Create a new database in the 1&1 Control Panel and select MySQL 5 as the version. 3. Import the data (Restore) from your MySQL database. Please note: In MySQL version 5, the field type varchar binary is no longer available.
