How do I point to 1&1 name servers?

Note: If a domain name is held within a 1&1 account, either as a registered domain with 1&1, or as an external DNS point to 1&1, it can not be setup in another account or contract as a DNS point.

For domains registered with 1&1 you can move the domain name internally to the new account, as explained in our FAQ section How do I transfer ownership of a domain to a different 1&1 account or contract?

If the domain name is already setup as an external domain (DNS point) in a 1&1 account, you will will have to remove the domain from the existing package, wait for this to be removed from our database, then add the domain to the new package. You can cancel a domain name from a package as described in our FAQ How do I cancel a domain from my package?.

Given that the above is noted, and that the domain name is not already within our databases, you can follow the below to add a domain name externally as a DNS point to your 1&1 hosting services.

To execute a DNS transfer (pointing to 1&1 name servers), please follow these instructions:

1. Log in to the 1&1 Control Panel at: https://admin.1and1.com

If you have only one package, you will land on the Administration page.
If you have more than one package, select the relevant package to reach
its Administration page.

2. Select Domains from the Basic Settings section.

Note: You should use the above DNS only to host the domain with 1&1. Other DNS (name servers) are not allowed, even as backup.
