Why does my domain status show an error message?

There are a few possible reasons for a domain registration error message:

1. Domain name already exists. If the domain status says "already exists", then
someone else had already registered the domain name. In this case, your request will
be canceled and you will not be billed for the domain.

2. Domain setup error. If you change the DNS of your domain before the
registration process is complete, an error will occur. Please reset the DNS back to
1&1 Name Servers, wait for the domain to be completely registered and then modify
the DNS.

3. Error during registration. The status "errors" means that an error occurred
when a registration request was filed. Our technical support staff will check the
details and, if necessary, fix the problem. This may delay the registration of your
domain for approximately 48 hours.
