What is a redemption period?

As a safety measure to stop people from losing their domains to domain grabbers,
there is a 30-day redemption period which will start as soon as the domain name
reaches its expiration date. In effect, the domain name enters a state of "limbo".

We can get a domain out of redemption for you within these 30 days by paying a fee
of $40. Once the 30 days are up the domain will be irrevocably deleted and will be
available to everyone again.

It takes 5 business days for Domains to be redeemed once the Redemption Form has
been processed.

Note: The domains that are set to soft-expire or do not renew will go into
redemption for 30 days from the domains expiration date. Those domains which
are closed will then go into redemption on that date.

(* - Only domains registered with 1&1 (SCHLUND + PARTNER). If your domain name is
held with another Registrar you will need to contact them.)
