What happens when a domain is set to Private Registration?


The WHOIS is updated in 24 hours after the Domain is set to Private Registration.
Now when you do a WHOIS on your domain, it will show:

Under Address information for all contacts, 1&1 Internet, Inc. corporate address is listed:
1&1 Internet, Inc.
701 Lee Road, Suite 300
19087 PA Chesterbrook
US

Under Phone for all contacts +1.8772064254 is listed. A recorded message will
explain that the domain owner can be contacted via a form. The recording will not
accept any messages.

The e-mail address under all contacts will look like 'proxy37027@1and1-private-registration.com'.
This e-mail address will be forwarded to your e-mail address listed on the account.
You can change the e-mail address it forwards to under 'E-mails' in your Control
Panel. This e-mail address cannot be deleted as long as you have the domain set to
Private Registration.

Under Organization for all contacts,
1&1 Internet, Inc. - http://1and1.com/contact is listed. This URL is the
Web Interface to contact the owner of the domain. It can be used to send messages. This form
is forwarded directly to your e-mail address listed in Control Panel.

This form will in no way reveal your e-mail address. This will only work for domains
registered with Schlund + Partner.
