What is the difference between a Dedicated SSL certificate and a Shared SSL certificate?

A shared SSL certificate will require the proxy URL to be located before your domain name in the address bar. For example:

     http://www.mysite.com

For “mysite.com” to become secure the URL will need to look like this:

     https://ssl.perfora.net/mysite.com

You will need to keep this in mind when you are creating your website. With a Dedicated SSL certificate you need to
add https before the domain name. You do not need to go through the proxy.

Dedicated SSL will require the domain name to look like this:

     https://www.mysite.com

Both a Dedicated and a Shared SSL certificate secure the site but some individuals would prefer the Dedicated over the
Shared due to the cleaner URL appearance.
