How do I unzip ".tgz/.gz" files?.tgz means .tar.gz, which means that the file is a 'tar' (Tape ARchive) file that has been gzipped. 1. You will have to download and install a tool called WinRAR. You can download WinRAR from: http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm If you are on a Windows OS download "WinRAR 3.50" If you are on a Mac OS download "RAR 3.50 for MacOS X" (Note: After the trial period is over, you may need to purchase the software) 2. Run the WinRAR Program. 3. Click File -> Open Archive. ![]() 4. Browse to the location where you have .tgz/.gz file. Choose the file and click Open. ![]() 5. Select the file and click Extract To. ![]() 6. Choose the location where you want the extracted file saved. Click OK. ![]() 7. The file is extracted. Now you can view that file using Notepad/Wordpad. |
