How do I install osCommerce?



To install osCommerce first make sure you have a domain name pointing to the directory where osCommerce will be installed and have created a MySQL database to be used.

1. SSH into your webspace.

2. Go to the directory in which you would like to install osCommerce.
(What are the important SSH Commands?)

3. Download and extract the software by typing these commands:
wget http://www.oscommerce.com/redirect.php/go,42
unzip oscommerce-2.2rc1.zip
cd oscommerce-2.2rc1
mv catalog ../oscommerce

4. Once the extraction is complete, navigate to http://yourdomain.com/oscommerce in a browser window.


5. Click Continue.

6. Click Continue.

7. Click Continue.

8. osCommerce is now installed. Please remove the install directory and change the permissions for the include/configure.php
file to not include write permission, via FTP. This is for security reasons.
