What does Protected Directories mean?

Set up password-protected directories for administrative areas and pages that you
do not want the public to access.

For example: If you have files that are to be accessed by only certain people, you
can password protect those files by placing them in a directory and setting up a
user name and password for that directory. Anyone trying to access those files will be
prompted to enter a user name and password.

The first entry in the protected directory overview table is the main user and cannot
be edited or deleted.
