What does "Point DNS to 1&1" mean?

By "pointing" or redirecting your current DNS (Domain Name Server) to 1&1, you can keep your
domain name registered elsewhere and still have your website hosted by 1&1. This is done by
changing your current DNS settings to match the specific address of 1&1 name servers. The
name server change usually takes effect in about 24-48* hours.

*The Domain Name System consists of tens of thousands of databases that
all need to be updated with your new name server information. This
process may take up to 48 hours to complete, although normally this
takes about 24 hours.
