What are protected directories?1&1 lets you set up password-protected directories for administrative areas and pages on your site that you do not want the public to access. For example, if you have files that should only be accessed by authorized users, you can password-protect those files by placing them in a folder and setting up a user name and password for that folder. When a user tries to access those files, they will be prompted to enter a user name and password. Access will not be granted without the correct user name and password. An index.html file is required in the folder also. Find out more... Which packages support Protected Directories? How do I set up Protected Directories in Linux Packages?
