What is SSL (Secure Socket Layer)?

A Secure Socket Layer (SSL) is the first line of defense against online intruders. It
is a protocol that transmits your communications over the Internet in an encrypted
form. An SSL Certificate ensures that the information sent is unchanged and sends
it only to the intended server. E-Commerce sites frequently use SSL technology to
safeguard credit card information.

The SSL Certificate is included with all Server packages, Developer Shared Hosting
packages, and Developer eShops. It is also available as an upgrade with all other
Shared Hosting plans for only $49 per year.
